The News Desk https://thenewsdesk.co.uk DIGITAL CONTENT MARKETING - You Pick The Topics & We Provide Current, Trending News & Articles Wed, 04 May 2016 08:21:19 +0000 en-GB hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.5.2 Social Landlords https://thenewsdesk.co.uk/blog/social-landlords/ https://thenewsdesk.co.uk/blog/social-landlords/#respond Wed, 04 May 2016 08:21:19 +0000 http://thenewsdesk.co.uk/?p=403 KNIGHTSTONE

Knightstone/Arcadia is a fairly active Housing Association with 10,000 residents, they need to report

to them by law three/four times each year and prove best practice/TCF are being observed, again

statutorily.

Their trade body, NHF, needs to keep on top of all news. Within the trade are some very active

newsfeeds eg Housing Today, but these have to be subscribed separately so the associations

themselves are providing less for their residents and/or members.

The trends that could be pulled and reported would include depending n the body receiving the info,

everything from building trends to regulation, legal cases, financial trends, planning on the ground,

lobbying, and at the moment they’re struggling with Universal Credit and how that will affect their

tenants – so need more ways to keep communication flowing.

Others I have contacts within:

 Spectrum

 Yarlington

 Cheltenham Borough Homes

 Islington Council

 Plymouth Council

 Guinness Homes

Charities and Voluntary Organisations – Membership bodies https://thenewsdesk.co.uk/blog/charities-and-voluntary-organisations-membership-bodies/ https://thenewsdesk.co.uk/blog/charities-and-voluntary-organisations-membership-bodies/#respond Wed, 04 May 2016 08:20:41 +0000 http://thenewsdesk.co.uk/?p=401 ACEVO

An active lobbying and training organisation aimed at top bods in voluntary and charitable

institutions but without any news feed of any kind.

As someone involved at Director level within two national charities I find up-to- date news hard to

come by within the third sector generally – there is a certain amount in social housing but not

enough.

 ABCUL

 CDFA now renamed Responsible Credit or something

 NCVO

Leisure Member Body https://thenewsdesk.co.uk/blog/leisure-member-body/ https://thenewsdesk.co.uk/blog/leisure-member-body/#respond Wed, 04 May 2016 08:20:03 +0000 http://thenewsdesk.co.uk/?p=399 CAMRA

With your annual subscription you get a very good but sluggish print and/or online newsletter pus

membership of your own regional bodies if you wish. Subs are very low (£29/couple at present). And

you get various beer-y benefits for that, eg reduced entry at events, 10-15% off in many pubs in

chains like Wetherspoons, money off in bottle stores, etc etc.

But you have to wait for largely volunteer body to get the news in and that depends on active

members sending in stories and entering competitions etc.

Asa lobbying body they should also be on top of legislation, threats from retail environment,

planning on the ground, international law, mergers etc etc.

CAMRA would definitely benefit from a newshub situation, with constant feed on a vast range of

trigger words. Their members are generally fairly passionate.

Similar targets –

 Small Independent Brewers Association (SIBA)

 Royal Photographic Society

 British Horse Society
